Transition

As schools introduce multiple programs concurrently, it can become confusing for the masses. This school year, we have several programs. We are Title I, Personalized Learning, Professional Development, 4x4 and STEAM. It appears that teachers and kids are everywhere and nothing is accomplished and/or mastered. What does the research say about implementing programs to increase student achievement?

  1. That's a great point...sometimes less is more! Even as a teacher, I'm guilty of the same thing on the classroom level. It's a blessing not being locked into standards or a specific curriculum's scope and sequence, but the downside is that I try to squeeze in so many (too many) interesting and awesome things that I think are important. At the beginning of each year I swear to embrace the concept that less is more, but then I get excited about, and caught up in the hustle and bustle of teaching, and it's the same story all over again. At the school or district-level, it seems to come down from the top, but it's probably the same scenario. I guess that's why it's important for administrators at all levels to really consider your point. Thank!
