How do we get around the testing schedule we have currently in place? In my current high school we have some type of testing going on from today until finals in May. Milestones, SLO, Aspire, AP, and I am sure am missing others but this seems a bit too much. Are there any alternatives? Whatever happened to "old fashioned" schoolwork?

  1. I recently heard that the state of Georgia is going to do away with some of the testing. Our poor students are doing benchmarks, Ga. Milestones, MAP, to name just a few. A couple of years ago, I asked my assistant principal what were the students being tested on since the teachers didn't even have enough time to teach them anything before they had to be tested again.

  2. Accountability! It is sad that testing is the only way to hold teachers accountable. Some of our students continue to fall behind nationally while schools continue to receive federal funds. I have observed some teachers teaching like a rock star, while others sit behind there desk and give the students a worksheet. Testing will decrease; however, how will we ensure that students are being taught and more importantly, that students are indeed learning.
