MILESTONES ARE HERE
Believe it or not it's that time of the year....STATE TESTING! Yipppeeee.....Stress time, rather watch paint dry time, I'd rather be somewhere else time, etc. What is it about testing that brings out the hives?! If you've been doing what you're suppose to do since day one then there's no need for panic. I'm not saying I meet the testing spirit with whistles and rainbows. I just recognize the sun is going to still rise in the morning despite if Johnny or Susie shows up on testing day. So in the spirit of testing here are a few tips to remember:
And you fearless school leaders please take care of the worker bees.....free jeans days on the days of testing....just sayin'
- Wear comfortable shoes that have a rubber sole....think nothing that will make a sound. Nobody really cares that your tennis shoes does not match the day's ensemble.
- Wear comfortable clothes. Nothing too tight (This includes girdles)...but then again it may just keep you awake wondering why in the world did you stuff yourself in too small clothing....Try not to pass out.
- Wear a pedometer to actually count how many times you have circled your room and say "I'm working out on the down low." You really will be amazed at your step count.
- This is the time to finally memorize the lyrics to your favorite song (please don't get carried away and sing it out loud), maybe a poem, or better yet a scripture. Scripture would be my pick especially when a student picks the wrong answer and you KNOW you taught the skill....LUKE 23:34 "Father, forgive them for they do not know what they are doing."
- Go over your to-do list in your head. Maybe you will get to get things off of it after school or after testing....lets be real...it will get done during summer vacay. Nothing like setting goals.
- Place treats at your perching stops while walking around the room during testing. Maybe chocolate, mints, gum, etc. During this time you can't afford to fall asleep...NO such thing as dieting during state testing time.
- Do NOT leave home without a caffeine drip....who cares that you will be around looking like a gerbil on the spinning wheel.
And you fearless school leaders please take care of the worker bees.....free jeans days on the days of testing....just sayin'
Thanks for the tips Nicole. I'll bring my snacks to place around the room as I pace. Lol.
ReplyDeleteRight on Joe!
ReplyDeleteLove your post Nicole! Too funny! Testing is such a stressful time for all of us. It is what it is!
ReplyDeleteAlways relay to staff "This Too Shall Pass" and make them feel comfortable. I know easier said than done. Testing is stressful but knowing staff is supported by admin goes a looooong way.
DeleteGood Tips Nicole I think having coffee and tea in the mornings for the teachers during testing is a good idea!
ReplyDeleteYes coffee, tea, cokes, etc. Pretty much anything edible that is individually wrapped would be appreciated by staff during testing.
