Veteran Teacher Buy-In

Seeing that there is a lot of conversation on how to achieve "buy-in" from veteran teachers with newer agendas, I read an interesting article that provided suggestions on how to achieve this.  Of course this is not a one size fit all solution.  However, it is a starting place to assist with moving forward.

Feel free to share thoughts or suggestions on how you achieved buy-in from your veteran teachers who are "reluctant" to get on board with newer agendas.

  1. Nicole, thanks for sharing this informative article on achieving buy-in from veteran teachers. I agree with all five points in getting veteran teachers on board with personalized/blended learning models. The two points that really captured my attention were: Involve veteran teachers in the research and design process and Give teachers space, time, and support. When starting a new initiative, it is so very important for school leaders to involve all teachers in the process in some way. Let them know that you value their input and need their support. After receiving their input, as a school leader, you need to allow teachers the time to adapt to the changes and provide them with lots of support. Many times teachers are hesitant to embrace initiatives such as this because of the lack of support and time they have to implement it.
